What is Type to Run?
Type to Run is an AI-powered running coach that generates structured workouts and training plans, that works with your Garmin or Apple Watch.
Either create single workouts just by describing what you want — or let the AI coach plan your training week by week, based on your goals and fitness level. Your workouts automatically sync to your watch with the companion watch apps, ready to start. Your pace, heart rate or power targets are precisely set for each step. No manual programming.
How does the AI running coach work?
The Weekly Coach plans your training week by week through a simple check-in chat. The first chat will be focused on establishing your goals, current running routine and history. Each week your coach will ask how last week went, how you're feeling, and what's coming up — and it builds your next week of workouts. It remembers your history, what workouts you like and adapts over time, just like a real coach would.
Where can I read more about Weekly Coach?
The5krunner recently published an in-depth feature covering how Weekly Coach works and what sets it apart from other coach apps, like Garmin Coach or Runna. Read the full feature.
Can I just create a single workout without a full training plan?
Yes. Type to Run lets you create individual workouts instantly by describing what you want in plain text. "45 minute easy run with 6 strides" or "track session, 6x800m at threshold pace". The AI handles the rest, including setting precise targets for each step.
Which watches are supported?
Garmin watches sync workouts via the ConnectIQ app. The full list of compatible devices is available on the Garmin ConnectIQ store listing.
Apple Watch support is currently in beta and works with WatchOS 11.6 and up.
Is Type to Run free?
Yes, Type to Run is free. It is likely that some features will require a paid subscription in the future, while others will remain free to use.
